The Spirit of '76 Scholarship

The Spirit of '76 Scholarship
The idea for a class-endowed scholarship was first proposed by Ken Kolaski in January 2016, as he was anticipating the 40th Reunion for the Class of 1976. Although the proposal was met with great interest from some generous alumni, the right time and place for a collective effort from classmates would present itself in the Fall of 2020.  A class-endowed scholarship committee was formed the members of which included Fran Brady, Jim Kopchuk, George DeFeo, and, of course, Ken Kolaski.

This dedicated group divided up the class list and did some good old-fashioned personal outreach. With the help of Bob Hyslop and his database of current class contact information, committee members connected with classmates across the country. Generous pledge commitments from over 60 alumni in the class have surpassed the $100,000 baseline to establish the Spirit of ’76 Endowed Scholarship.
This endowed scholarship will provide an annual scholarship to an accepted high-achieving student. The recipient should have demonstrated financial need and his admittance will further the diversity goals of
St. Joseph's Prep.
The Spirit of '76 Scholarship will enable a student, who meets these requirements, to attend the Prep.
