Chris Clark ’04 Returns to Alma Mater

After A Decade at Temple University, Clark Joins the Prep
As Assistant AD and Head Basketball Coach

St. Joseph’s Prep is excited to welcome Chris Clark ’04 back to his alma mater to become Assistant Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach. With more than a decade of experience in college athletics, most recently as Assistant Head Basketball Coach at Temple University, he is a wonderful addition to our Athletics Team.

With his experience at the highest levels of college athletics, Clark is a great role model for our student-athletes, especially since he was once in their shoes as a Prep Hawk. Clark, who is also a member of the Prep’s A4 (African American Alumni Association), was part of the last two SJP Catholic League Basketball Championship teams: the 2002-03 team that was inducted into the Prep Hall of Excellence in 2024 and the 2003-04 team that went back-to-back. He has spent the past 10 years as an assistant basketball coach at Temple University, his other alma mater, where he played under legendary Hall of Fame coaches John Chaney and Fran Dunphy. He also coached at Temple under three head coaches: Dunphy; Prep Dad Aaron McKie P ’25, ’28; and Adam Fisher.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Chris back home to help us fulfill the mission of creating well-rounded student-athletes,” says Athletic Director Bryan Ghee. “Chris was clearly impacted by his time at the Prep and carried those lessons with him as a Temple student-athlete and then coach. He is a tremendous addition to our team as he is someone committed to walking with our young men and guiding them on their journey.”

Clark also has an extensive resume of community service. He has been a Big Brother Program volunteer, a Reading for Children volunteer, and has done community service at the Carousel House in Philadelphia. Additionally, he has volunteered with Midtown Parish United Methodist Church, Temple Rollin' Owls Basketball League, and Cherry Hill's Martin Luther King Day.
