Ivanhoe Civic League, Ivanhoe, VA

The Ivanhoe Civic League, located on 739 Painter Hill Rd in Ivanhoe Virginia,is an organization that facilitates community rebuilding projects in their community. Once a thriving mining town, Ivanhoe has become one of the poorest towns in Appalachia. The Prephas been visiting Ivanhoe for a number of years,and will return again this summer through their Civic League to participate in very practical and much needed service projectsin the town, while getting to know the community and culture. Ivanhoe is a unique opportunity in that it exposes students to a very unfamiliar brand of rural poverty common in Appalachia.
