The Prep Fund Supports All Parts of a Prep Education

Since its founding in 1851, the Prep has offered an unparalleled educational experience. From rigorous academics to exceptional co-curricular teams, the Prep has impacted the lives of generations of students, forming men for and with others over our 170-year history. The Prep Fund, which supports nearly every aspect of a student’s education, is the financial backbone of our ability to continue providing opportunities complementing the education of the young men enrolled at St. Joseph's Prep. You are the key to the Prep’s continued excellence — and its ability to transform lives each and every day.

In addition to providing scholarship and financial aid to over 60% of our students, The Prep Fund enhances the daily aspects of the student experience by supporting co-curricular activities like sports and clubs, enabling our students to live out our Jesuit Mission through service and retreat opportunities offered by Mission and Ministry, and maintaining the IT and Infrastructure that make a 21st-century education possible. 

Now that our new learning spaces in the Howley Learning Commons and the supporting offices are becoming accessible, our students are eager to dive into the opportunities created by the For Others Forever campaign. Support for The Prep Fund is increasingly important in order to take advantage of the opportunities created by the new spaces. 

When asking alumni about their student experience at St. Joseph's Prep, you will hear stories about the academic rigors, athletic competitions, Cape and Sword performances, Mock Trial competitions, or simply the camaraderie that they experienced during their time as a student. Whatever the story, the roots come from the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, care of the whole person, which is made possible through The Prep Fund's generously supportive alumni, parents, and friends of the Prep. Your gift to The Prep Fund will reach far and wide, addressing the Prep’s most pressing needs.

The most important day for The Prep Fund is the Day of Giving on Thursday, November 17. While only 24 hours long, this one-day fundraiser is the moment for all of us to come together as members of Prep Nation to reach our goal of $300,000 from 500 donors. Be sure to make a gift on the Day of Giving in just 3 weeks! 

Here are some ways that you can be the hero and help the Prep continue to offer a unique high school experience rooted in Jesuit ideals:
  • Serve as a Class Representative as an alumnus or parent of alumni/students.
  • Promote the #PrepFundDayofGiving messaging by sharing the Prep on your social media.
  • Make a gift through the Prep Website, Venmo @st-joes-prep-philly-giving, or by mail.
