Presidential Search Update

To members of the St. Joseph’s Prep community:

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I write to provide you with an update on the search for the Prep’s next president. Let me start by acknowledging and thanking the members of the search committee which is appropriately comprised of Trustees and Jesuit leadership representatives:
Ms. M. Shawn Bort P '10 (Chair)
Mr. David D. Clark, P '11 '19
Michael D. Gayda, Esq. ’72
Mrs. Joan Hilferty P '14, '16
Fr. Daniel K. Lahart, S.J.
Fr. Joseph Parkes, S.J. (Provincial Assistant for Secondary Education)
Mr. Derek Redcross '81

The hiring of a president is among the most important responsibilities of the Board of Trustees, with the support of the USA East Province of the Society of Jesus. All of us who care about and love the Prep are grateful for the time and dedication that the search committee has given to this important work.

Over the past few months, with the assistance of Carney Sandoe & Associates, a strong pool of candidates was developed. Following initial interviews with the search committee, three finalists were identified and are involved with us in further interviews and school visits. Thank you to all Prep colleagues and students who are engaging in this important stage of the process. Your participation and feedback is valued and meaningful in the search committee’s recommendation, the Board’s ultimate decision, and in showcasing the Prep and the wonderful opportunity and community that awaits the next president.

The search committee and Board of Trustees set a goal of completing the process and announcing the next president before the end of the calendar year. We are optimistic that this will be the case.

I recognize the desire some in our community have to know the names or specific profiles of the candidates. We must, however, respect the privacy and confidentiality of the candidates. To do otherwise would be unfair to them but also detrimental to the Prep.

Thank you for your support and understanding. Happy (early) Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Mark C. Reed '92, Ed.D.
Chair, Board of Trustees
