Owens ’23 Bikes Cross Country for Lung Cancer Awareness
Jack Owens ’23 recently completed a Ride Hard Breathe Easy cross-country bike trip to raise awareness and funds for lung cancer. Jack Matthews ‘80, Owens’ uncle completed a similar ride in 2017 and joined in to bike some of the trip with Owens this summer. He made the 3,500-mile journey in honor of his grandmother, Kathleen Matthews, who bravely battled lung cancer for nine months.
Over the course of 47 days, Owens raised $50,000 for the cause. On his way to finishing in Ocean City, NJ, Owens stopped at the Prep and was met by President John Marinacci and Principal John McCaul.
