College Corner: Eric Scheuerle ’18, Franklin and Marshall
APU: Tell us about yourself.
ES: I live in Gladwyne and I had three older brothers (Kyle ’16, Scott ’14, and Cory ’11) who went to the Prep and all had a phenomenal time at the school. Currently, I study within the business program at Franklin and Marshall College and plan to graduate in May. For the past year, I've been fortunate enough to work as a funding and operations intern for Voyager Digital, a company that specializes as a cryptocurrency broker, where I've learned how to identify and resolve cryptocurrency liquidity issues and help perform trade execution. I'm also a member of the Franklin & Marshall Lacrosse Team and Investment Club.
APU: What is your Prep story?
ES: At the Prep, I had a great time exploring the diverse and rigorous subjects that we were taught. From subjects like high-level mathematics to public speaking and film class (my brother Scott decided to double major in film at St. Joseph's University due to Mr. Whelan's film class senior year!), I was exposed to many different ways of learning. This not only educated me in different areas, but also helped me expand my interests.
APU: How have you been involved with the Prep Alumni Mentoring Program?
ES: The mentoring program has been great in helping me learn and understand what I want in a career. Hearing from multiple alumni in different industries uncovered details within them that you wouldn't be able to hear in a normal shadowing experience. The St. Joseph's Prep brotherhood allows for one to gain the insight and advice that one would want. Everyone is willing to help with no hesitation and it really makes one feel like they are a part of something larger networking at St. Joe's Prep.
APU: What are your career interests?
ES: The cryptocurrency and finance industries are filled with many career paths. Luckily enough, I've found a strong interest in the overlap between the two. I've been searching for a career in this intersection within DeFi (Decentralized Finance) or cryptocurrency/alternative investment firms. I believe it's incredibly exciting and has a wide amount of potential for the future. Speaking with St. Joe's Prep alumni within similar fields has helped me grasp what I want within a career and for my future.
