Padre Pio Center, Philadelphia, PA

Padre Pio Center is located on 1509 Church Street in theFrankford section of NortheastPhiladelphia.They are an evangelical ministry of Capuchin Franciscan Brothers whose mission is to witness the love of Christ to all we encounter in the manner of St. Francis of Assisi. Their “identity as brothers is a call to journey with our neighbors in the joys andtrials of life” seeking “to care for the spiritual, corporeal and emotional needs of the community.” This summer, Prepwill send a group of students to join in their ministry.Given their proximity to the opioid epidemic, much of their ministry is focused on serving people who are addicted and their families. The program will introduce our students to the types of challenges people face living in the surroundingneighborhood and show them what evangelical works of service look like and how powerful they can be.
