The Stephen E. Codella MD ’08 Scholarship

In Memory of
Stephen E. Codella, MD (1990-2022)
St. Joseph's Prep Class of 2008
Son, Brother and Man For Others
One of the most important decisions that Stephen Codella could make was his decision to attend St. Joseph's Prep where he excelled in jazz band, ice hockey, and made friends for life. A New Jersey resident, Stephen was introduced to the Prep during a summer camp. Stephen thrived and embraced the Jesuit values during his time at 17th & Girard.

He went on to study at Fordham University, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, and Temple University Hospital, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine and initiated his training in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship.
Stephen's life was cut short in 2022 when he passed away after suffering from rhabdomyosarcoma.

To keep his memory alive at the Prep, his friends and family have created the Stephen E. Codella, MD Scholarship for a student from New Jersey who pursue studies in math and/or science, in addition to demonstrating a desire to foster an interest in music or the arts.
