One of First In Nation to Pilot New AP Cyber Security Class
St. Joseph’s Prep has been selected as one of a few schools nationwide to pilot a new AP Cyber Security that will launch this school year. Prep teachers Teresa Hoffman and Jack Campbell, seasoned AP instructors, attended training from the College Board this summer at a workshop at Rutgers University.
“It is very exciting to offer this opportunity to our students,” says Hoffman, Chair of Arts and Innovation. “At this time, there is a real need for cybersecurity experts in the field. This class, which is detailed and hands-on, will give our students a great base to study this field in college and beyond.”
The Prep has been an innovator in the Computer Science field for decades. The AP Computer Science class has been in place for more than 20 years, and the school was a pilot program for AP Computer Science Principles, which has been successful for nearly 200 students voluntarily enrolled per year.
