Meredith Morgan

At the Prep, our students have the opportunity to learn from incredible women and men who see their work in the classroom as a vocation. While many of our alumni give to the Prep in gratitude for the education they received from teachers, many faculty also support The Prep Fund in gratitude for the students they have the privilege to teach.

Meredith Morgan is one of the teachers who gives to support scholarships and financial aid. Ms. Morgan, who recently received the Ignatian Award, the Prep’s highest honor, has been a stalwart in the school’s Classics Department since 1998, teaching Latin and Greek. A graduate of Scranton Prep, she understands the value of a Jesuit education and, recently, she shared the reasons she supports The Prep Fund.

“My reasons for supporting The Prep Fund are twofold. As an alumna of a Jesuit high school, I have been fortunate enough to reap the many educational rewards and benefits that are associated with a Jesuit education. I was equipped with the skills to become a lifelong learner which in turn has enabled me to get to where I am today. The Jesuits instilled in me the belief in both the magis and cura personalis. Now, as a teacher at St. Joseph’s Prep, it is my goal to help provide financial aid and scholarships to students who cannot afford the tuition.

Philadelphia and the entire Delaware Valley provide our school with such a diverse population that brings such a unique student body to the halls of the Prep and keeps our classrooms alive. The Prep could not exist without such a wonderful student body. Today, St. Joseph’s Prep continues to shape its community by educating ‘Men for Others.’ Since it is my belief that no one who desires a Jesuit education should be denied one, I am encouraging you to keep this motto in mind as you consider supporting The Prep Fund. We really couldn’t be where we are today without such great support from our faithful alumni.”
