St. Joseph's Prep is a member of the Philadelphia Catholic League and District XII of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The Philosophy of mens sana in corpore sano, "a healthy mind in a healthy body," has long been a part of Prep education. Prep students strive for excellence in athletics as well as academics. In striving for success, the members of the Prep coaching staff endeavor to instill the qualities of leadership, loyalty, and sportsmanship. The student-athlete learns to cope with winning and losing; to be humble in victory and proud in defeat.
