Frank Adams ’76 will be honored and inducted into the Black Tennis Hall of Fame in a ceremony to take place July 2nd and 3rd. Adams was the first African American President of the Colorado Tennis Association and Intermountain Tennis Association USTA Section.

After graduating from the Prep in 1976, Adams served his country in the United States Air Force, where he served as a Medical Laboratory Technologist and was also a Base Tennis Professional, and won the Air Force Merit Award and U.S. Navy Citation Award.

Adams has over 25 years of experience with USTA in their local, regional, and national offices, and has served on several committees in the USTA offices, as well as serving as president of the Colorado branch, and section president and section delegate for the Intermountain branch. He has won eleven awards, including a 2016 Citation from the City of Philadelphia Council for Service to Humanity. He currently serves as a Star Search Coach as well as on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for USTA Colorado.

Adams, who currently lives in Colorado, was recently profiled in a Philadelphia Tribune article, where he recalls his journey in tennis and how he came up playing in Philadelphia’s rec centers. The article also mentions that he was a 3-sport athlete at the Prep, running cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track, before committing to his love for tennis.
