Troilo ’17 and Zacney ’17 Launch Business

No one who knew LJ Troilo ’17 and Alex Zacney ’17 during their days as students at the Prep will be surprised at their newest venture. The duo has built their own business from the ground up, and that business is taking off.

Even as teenagers, Troilo and Zacney were entrepreneurs, creating their own companies and jumping into startups. Now, just three years removed from graduation, the two have created a new company, which is generating interest from investors while also striving to serve public health interests.

The company is ivee, a platform where individuals can order health or wellness services to their home or office at any time. “Think of it as a DoorDash for health and wellness,” says Troilo. The company launched in July in New York City, Long Island, and Philadelphia, providing IV services to their users, with options including athletic recovery, illness remedy, and other treatments. But that was just the beginning (“our foot in the door for the industry”).

ivee has also been active in providing on-site testing for COVID-19 and will soon be providing 20 percent of all testing for the virus in Philadelphia, along with their partner “Philly Fighting COVID.” “We have more than 80 nurses live on the platform,” Troilo says of the company that started with just him and Alex and has now expanded to eight full-time employees. ivee has offered COVID-19 testing for businesses and schools, often during emergency outbreak situations. “Those times are so stressful and we are glad to be able to provide a service to them.”

Both men say that the Prep has made a difference in their lives; one that has carried over to their business. The message of making the world better through your work and actions has resonated with them.

“Our goal was to make health and wellness accessible to all people, and we have received a lot of positive feedback,” says Zacney. “For example, an infusion for a chronic disease or ailment can lead to an individual taking 3 to 4 days per week going to treatments, altering their way of life. Instead of working or going to school or spending time with their family, they are sitting in a physician’s office staring at the wall. With a service such as ivee, clients would be able to go to school or work every day. We see a lot of societal benefit, and that is definitely something that was fostered at the Prep.”

“A large part of what drives our passion around ivee is the fact that we know that it has a high potential to create a positive impact for the people to whom we provide services,” Troilo says. “The best creations and innovations are the ones that can simultaneously grow commercially and also contribute to the betterment of society. The Prep definitely nurtured that belief that we have an obligation to help others. I believe that is something we have embodied with ivee. We are trying to democratize access to health services.” He notes that the company will soon be able to accept health insurance, “which will allow us to be even more nimble and able to provide any low-complexity health and wellness service that requires a clinician.”

For Troilo, the learning at the Prep went beyond the classroom. “There was an expectation at the Prep that we were there to work, learn, and perform, and the teachers had very high expectations about the quality of work that was going to be delivered,” he says. “That is a valuable skill set to have and contributed to our capabilities to step into these roles at a young age.”

While they acknowledge that their paths might be different from many fellow alumni, both hope to provide inspiration to those who come after them. “As Prep graduates, there are so many opportunities available,” Zacney says. “I encourage all Prep students to embrace your path and embrace your passions.”
