Class of 2021 Commencement

On Sunday, June 6 at 10:30 am the Class of 2021 and their parents will gather to celebrate Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement on the campus of Merion Mercy Academy (MMA). Due to COVID-19 restrictions the ceremony will be held outdoors under a tent. Each graduate is permitted to bring two parents/guardians. We are very grateful to our friends at MMA for welcoming us to their beautiful campus. 

Important Dates:
  • Wednesday, April 28
    • Graduates will receive a pack of 20 graduation announcements, envelopes and personalized name cards that can be sent to family and friends.

  • Thursday, June 3
    • Rehearsal at the Prep, 2 p.m.
    • Tuxedo pick-up and Class BBQ will immediately follow in the Plaza Lot.

  • Sunday, June 6
    • Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement, 10:30 a.m., Merion Mercy Academy, 511 Montgomery Ave., Merion Station, PA 19066. 
    • Students must arrive dressed in their tuxedo, by 9:30 a.m. 
    • Attendance is limited to the graduate and two parents/guardians.
    • Parking attendants will direct guests when they arrive on campus. Enter the campus from Montgomery Ave. 

  • Monday, June 7
    • All tuxedos must be returned to the Prep.
    • If you have not been measured for your tuxedo contact Stan Levin at Rochester Tuxedo as soon as possible, 856-755-1466.
    • Commencement announcements are available to pick up in the Principal's Office.

  • Are there directions to Merion Mercy Academy?

    MMA is located one mile west from St. Joseph’s University’s Hagan Arena. The address is 511 Montgomery Ave., Merion Station, PA 19066.
  • Where do I park?

    Enter from Montgomery Avenue and MMA personnel will direct parking.
  • How many people can we bring to Baccalaureate Mass & Commencement?

    Due to space limitations, each graduate is allowed only two adult guests.
  • Will there be a livestream video and photography at the event?

    A livestream link will be available to watch the event and will be posted to this web page as we get closer to the event. The event will also be recorded to watch later.

    Legacy Photos is scheduled to take photos of each graduate as he walks across the stage. Legacy will contact you directly about the opportunity to purchase these photos. Website: Legacy Photography, phone: (610) 279-1791.
  • Where do we sit for the event?

    Graduates and their guests will sit together in a group of three. Each group of three will be socially distanced from the next group. No additional seating will be available and no additional guests will be permitted at the event. Unfortunately, younger brothers will not serve as ushers this year.
  • What is the dress code?

    Graduates will be supplied a tuxedo at graduation rehearsal on Thursday, June 3 which they should immediately try on once they arrive home to ensure fit. If any issues are discovered with your tuxedo, call Stan Levin at Rochester Formal Wear: 856-755-1466.

    On the morning of Commencement, graduates should arrive at Merion Mercy wearing the tuxedo. Graduates will be given a boutonniere, St. Joseph medal and class pin to apply to their tuxedos; keep lapels free of pins and decorations.

    As the event is outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather and keep in mind, you will be walking on grassy and uneven terrain.
  • How long will the event last?

    Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement will be combined this year. We expect the Mass and ceremony to be approximately 2-2.5 hours.
  • Can my son’s younger brother serve as an usher?

    Unfortunately, due to gathering limitations, younger brothers may not serve as ushers this year.
  • Are there handicap accommodations?

    The event will be held outside on a field under a tent. Please email Carol McLaughlin if you require any handicap accommodations.
  • When will we receive our graduation announcements?

    On April 27, 20 commencement announcements and personalized name cards were distributed to send to relatives and friends. If you did not receive announcements please pick them up from Carol McLaughlin in the Principal's office.
  • Will there be restrooms available at the event?

    Restrooms are available indoors at MMA.
