Presidential Search

The most important and impactful governance responsibility of the Board is hiring and successfully on-boarding a new president. We take this responsibility very seriously and are committed to ensuring that the search process is well designed, thoughtfully executed, and culminates in the installation of a president who has demonstrated strong belief in our mission and exemplifies someone living for and with others.

  • The Search Committee

    The Board has appointed the following trustees to serve as the Search Committee:

    Also serving on the Search Committee will be Rev. Joseph Parkes, SJ, Provincial Assistant for pre-secondary and secondary education for the Maryland and USA Northeast Provinces.
    The Search Committee will:
    • Oversee the entire search process;
    • Assist with development of search materials and communications;
    • Review resumes and other information submitted by prospective candidates;
    • Interview short list candidates and conduct reference checks; and
    • Make a hiring recommendation to the Board.
  • The Search Firm

    After a thorough process that included proposals from four very capable firms, Carney Sandoe & Associates was selected to assist with this search. CS&A is a well-respected search firm with a unique and high-profile Catholic schools practice. They have extensive experience in the Jesuit school network, including having assisted with our most recent principal search. CS&A will advise the Board and recommend best practices in all facets of the search process. The CS&A team will be led by Bob Regan, who also led our most recent principal search, and Bill Christ. Bob brings extensive educational leadership experience, is a former college president, a former Catholic school president, and oversees the CS&A Catholic Schools Practice. Bill, prior to joining Carney in 2017, had a distinguished 29-year tenure as head of school and was named one of the most outstanding independent school heads by Columbia University. Bob and Bill recently collaborated on the successful president search for St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago
  • The Search Process

    The search began in June with a two-day virtual site visit by CS&A. During the visit CS&A conducted a series of interviews and focus group sessions to gain a broader understanding of the opportunities and challenges our new president will face. A successful search requires input from all key constituents of the Prep, including faculty, staff, administration, students, parents, alumni, and donors.

    Following the virtual site visit, a Community Survey was sent to all members of the Prep Community. We are grateful to all who completed a survey as it is the most effective way to make sure your voice is heard and will help ensure that all perspectives are considered as the trustees make this important decision.

    After the virtual site visit, CS&A launched a national search to identify a pool of qualified candidates for consideration by the Search Committee. The Board expects that the search will be completed and our new president announced by the end of the calendar year. Periodic updates on the progress of the search will be posted here.
  • Presidential Search Survey

    Thank you for your participation in the Community Survey. We had over 1400 responses - a terrific turnout. Two themes emerged from the survey: a clear value of our Jesuit values and traditions, and a focus on ensuring and enhancing academic excellence. We will use these inputs and the rest of the survey feedback to guide both the search and successful on-boarding of a new president.
