Counseling Department: Special Programs
National Honor Society Peer Tutoring Program
Students who are experiencing difficulty in a particular subject are expected to meet with their teacher on a consistent and regular basis. In addition to meeting with their teacher for extra-help, peer tutoring may also be available. The peer tutoring program is provided by junior year students who are applying to the National Honor Society (NHS). NHS tutoring will be available beginning in mid-October. Please contact your son’s counselor to secure an NHS peer tutor.
Students who are struggling academically or who may have a concern related to their learning may be referred for a psychoeducational assessment. The psychoeducational assessment can be particularly helpful in identifying the relative strengths and weaknesses of a student as well as what specific steps the student may take to improve his learning. To find out more about the psychoeducational testing services or to make a referral for your son please contact his counselor.
Student Assistance Program (SAP)
Mr. Skowronski is the Coordinator of the Student Assistance Program (SAP). The SAP team is composed of faculty and staff volunteers who are trained to help identify students who are demonstrating academic, behavioral or emotional concerns. Parents may contact their son’s counselor or Mr. Skowronski for more information about this program.
