College Counseling: Financial Aid
Packaging
The process which a school’s financial aid office uses to meet need. Included could be gift aid (grants and scholarships) that does not need to be repaid, loans to students and parents, and work-study opportunities. Packages are generated each year as you complete the FAFSA. If your family circumstances change dramatically, you may see a different package. While schools prefer not to negotiate packages for obvious reasons, you have the right to appeal your son’s package and to provide additional information you feel may be relevant.
