LaSalle and St. Joseph’s Prep to Play CL Championship At Northeast High School on 11/24

La Salle College High School and St. Joseph’s Prep will stage another chapter in its longstanding rivalry, this time with the Catholic League title on the line. The two teams will face off on Friday, November 24 at 7 p.m., at Northeast High School. Because of the championship meeting, the game originally scheduled for Thanksgiving Day has been canceled. This newly scheduled game also moves the championship game from its original date of Saturday, December 2.

Both sides believe that it is in the best interests of all involved to cancel the Thanksgiving Day game and move the championship game up a week. Officials at both schools did not believe it was necessary to play the same opponent two weeks in a row if it was avoidable and that it made the most sense to play the championship this Friday instead of the following week.

La Salle and The Prep have played on Thanksgiving Day since 1976. La Salle leads that series 19-10 and won the 2005 meeting. Prior to that, The Prep had won five straight Thanksgiving games. Since 1999, the teams now also meet during the regular season as both are members of the Catholic League Red Division. The Prep won this year’s regular season match-up 42-14.
