Glavin Named New Crew Coach

Jim Glavin '65 has been named the new crew coach, replacing longtime coach Bill Lamb '79, who resigned earlier this month to pursue new business opportunities.

Glavin has a long and distinguished coaching career, dating back to the early 1970s when he led the Baldwin School to a National Junior Girls Championship. Since then he has coached at many prestigious locations, including the Vesper Boat Club, Saint Joseph's University and United States Rowing. Most recently he was the freshman/novice coach at Mount St. Joseph's Academy, where the squad won the National Freshman Championship in 2004 through 2006, and the Vesper Club, where he served as the director of the club's technical camp for varsity-caliber high school rowers.

Glavin rowed while at the Prep and also at Saint Joseph's College, where he was captain of the team that won the Dad Vail Regatta. In 2001, Glavin was inducted into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Outside of sports, Glavin is the founder and principal of Creating Successful Teams, a consulting/mentoring business focusing on providing one-on-one coaching and mentoring as well as team organization, development and managing results through clear expectations and accountability. Prior to that he was Vice President for Business Development and Executive Consultant at ProtonMedia, a multi-media technology company in Lansdale, and spent 24 years at GlaxoSmithKline, Corp., in Philadelphia.

Glavin and his wife Margaret are the parents of three children (Christopher, Emily and Caroline).
