In Memoriam: Ed Burke '63

It is with great sadness to report that today we received word of the passing of legendary Prep coach and administrator Ed Burke '63, who died suddenly in his home on Monday, March 23. Coach Burke recently suffered a relapse of lung cancer and was about to begin another round of treatment today.
In addition to basketball, Coach Burke also worked as the Prep’s Director of Alumni Relations for over a decade before retiring in 2004. For the past five years he has run Burke’s Inn, a family-owned tavern in Havertown.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 26 from 6-9pm, and Friday, March 27 from 10-11am, at St. Dorothy’s Church (Township Line and Burmont Rd., Drexel Hill, PA 19026). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11am Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.
An "Eddie Burke Scholarship Fund" is being created in Eddie's memory and the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Prep for that fund.
