What is SJP Crew Camp?
The SJP Crew Camp is a "learn to row" program that introduces the Olympic Sport of rowing to boys and girls ages 12 to 15 year olds. The goal is to provide opportunities for students interested in learning about rowing in a non-competitive environment. The sessions teach individuals the mechanics of how to row with one oar (sweep rowing) which can also be applied to two oared rowing (sculling). The program is designed to give each camper time to develop and improve rowing skills in a relaxed atmosphere. The students will gain an appreciation for the technical aspects of the sport, as well as the teamwork involved in moving eight oared rowing shells.
Location, Schedule, and Costs
The SJP Crew Camp will be located at the Robert Gillin, Jr. Boathouse; home of the St. Joseph's Prep Rowing Program and will consist of two (2-week) sessions during the month of July. The session dates are:
SESSION ONE: Monday, June 25 to Friday, July 6, 2012 space available
1:15pm - 4:45pm
SESSION TWO: Tuesday, July 10 to Friday, July 20, 2012 space available
1:15pm - 4:45pm
A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is required with registration in order to reserve a place in a session. Reservations are made on a first come, first serve basis and are limited to 100 campers per session. The cost is $600 for one session and $1100 for both sessions. The balance is due June 15. There will be a $25 discount for anyone who pays in full by May 1, 2012.
